The charm reads as two symbols occupying the same outline. The body is a fish drawn in the ichthus manner, two arcs crossing at the tail, and that tail does not end where a fish's would. It continues down and resolves into the stem and flag of an eighth note, with the note head rounded at the bottom left and the flag curling back up into the fish's lower fin. A cross is pierced clean through the center of the body, and a second opening above it separates the upper arc from the head.

Combining two symbols in one silhouette usually produces a charm where you can see the seam. This one has no seam. The eye reads fish first, then catches the note and has to go back and work out where one became the other, and the answer is that they share the same line the entire way down. The piercings do the rest of the work, putting the cross at the exact center of the fish where a buyer sees it immediately and letting light through the body so the charm stays legible against clothing rather than reading as a solid slab. The Ichthus Fish Music Note is retired and no longer in production.

The loop is uncut, which is the condition James Avery collectors look for and means it attaches exactly as it left the workshop. Hangs on a James Avery charm bracelet or on a chain as a pendant. Comes with the James Avery box and pouch.

Details:
Designer: James Avery
Metal: Sterling Silver
Hallmarks: STER, JA Candelabra
Design: Ichthus Fish Music Note with Pierced Cross
Type: Charm Pendant
Loop: Uncut
Status: Retired
Includes: James Avery box and pouch
Condition: Excellent estate condition

Fun Facts:
The fish became a Christian sign because of a pun. Ichthys is simply the Greek word for fish, and its five letters work as an acrostic for Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter, Jesus Christ Son of God Savior. The symbol is a word puzzle before it is a picture, which is why it spread among Greek speakers so fast and why it needed no explanation to anyone who already knew the phrase.
The note in this design is an eighth note in American usage and a quaver in British, and the two names measure completely different things. Quaver describes the sound, from the trembling of a quick note, while eighth note describes the arithmetic, one eighth of a whole. The flag curling off the stem is what does the dividing, and every additional flag halves the duration again.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0972/8272/0109/files/RETIRED_James_Avery_Ichthus_Fish_Music_Note_Cross_Sterling_Silver_Charm_Pendant_2.png?v=1792551334
https://silverqueenstudio.com/products/retired-james-avery-ichthus-fish-music-note-cross-sterling-silver-charm-pendant
