This sterling silver ring centers a free-form turquoise stone in a hand-cut bezel, surrounded by a ring of silver scrollwork curls that radiate outward like petals. The stone keeps its natural irregular shape rather than being cut to a standard cabochon, with a domed uneven surface, deep blue color, and dark webbing running through it alongside patches of green and tan matrix. The bezel follows the contours of the stone with visible hand-formed edges, and the scroll curls beneath it are each shaped and soldered individually, so no two sit at exactly the same angle. The darkened recesses behind the scrolls throw the bright polished silver forward and give the whole top real depth.

This is handmade work, and the evidence is all over it: the slightly uneven bezel wall, the hand-rolled curls, and the way the mount was built around this specific stone instead of the stone being fitted to a stock setting. It is Southwest style through and through, with the raised bezel, open scroll surround, and split shank that are the vocabulary of that tradition. A piece built this way is a one-off by definition, since the stone dictated the setting.

Sized 6, sitting tall on the finger with a split shank that keeps the weight balanced.

Fun Facts
Turquoise forms when water carrying copper seeps through aluminum-rich rock over millions of years, and the copper is what produces the blue.
The dark veining running through turquoise is called matrix, the host rock the stone grew within, and collectors often value a distinctive matrix pattern as highly as the color itself.
