Vintage Carved Jadeite Jade Solid 14K Yellow Gold Statement Ring Size 5.75
This vintage solid 14K yellow gold ring showcases a large oval carved jadeite jade panel that is the real star of the piece. The carving is deep, fluid, and confidently cut, with sweeping scrolled leaf forms flowing across the entire domed surface and no flat filler anywhere on the stone. Color moves through it beautifully, drifting from soft pale celadon into rich pockets of vivid apple green, and because the carving is done in relief, those green concentrations pool in the recesses and light up the ridges as the hand turns. Hand carving of this quality is what separates a serious jadeite piece from an ordinary cabochon, and the cutter clearly worked with the stone's color rather than against it. The gold mounting is every bit as thoughtful, with a pierced openwork gallery cut in flowing scrollwork that lets light travel up through the back of the stone and makes the whole crown appear to float above the finger. Four rounded prongs hold the jadeite securely at the corners, and split shoulders taper into a slim comfortable shank. A true statement ring with genuine artistry in both the stone and the setting.

Fun Facts:
Jadeite and nephrite were both called jade for centuries until French mineralogist Alexis Damour proved in 1863 that they are two entirely different minerals.
Jadeite is the rarer and more valuable of the two, and virtually all gem quality material has come from a single narrow region in northern Myanmar.
