Vintage IL Solid 10K Yellow Gold 6 Stone Amethyst Cluster Ring - Size 6
Solid 10K yellow gold cocktail ring set with six oval cut amethysts in a staggered cluster. The stones run in three offset pairs down the length of an elongated head that sits north to south along the finger, each one held in its own set of slim gold prongs and tilted slightly off its neighbor so the surface steps and shifts rather than lying flat. Curving gold scrollwork loops around and between the stones, rising into rounded volutes at the top and bottom of the head and opening into wide pierced spaces along both sides. The shank splits into a double band as it climbs toward the head, and the interior is stamped 10KP and IL.
The color is deliberately uneven, and that is the best thing about it. The amethysts run from pale lilac through rich grape, so the cluster reads as a gradient rather than a block of one tone, and because each stone sits at its own angle they catch light independently and flicker in sequence as the hand moves. The open gallery underneath does real work, letting light pass up through the backs of the stones so the purple stays lit from below. The scrollwork is cast with crisp definition in the curves and keeps a head this size reading as sculpture rather than mass.
Ring size 6. The elongated silhouette gives it real presence across the finger while the split shank keeps the weight manageable. Arrives packaged and ready to gift or add to your collection.

Fun Facts:
Amethyst is simply quartz colored purple by trace iron that has been altered by natural radiation underground over geological time, and heating that same material drives the color to yellow and orange, which is how the overwhelming majority of commercial citrine on the market is produced.
Amethyst is named in Exodus as one of the twelve stones set in the breastplate of the High Priest, and it later became the stone traditionally set in a bishop's ring in the Catholic church, which is why it is still sometimes called the Bishop's Stone.
