Samuel B Sterling Silver Black Onyx Cabochon Scrollwork Cocktail Ring Size 8

Sterling silver Samuel B cocktail ring centering a large oval black onyx cabochon in a raised bezel. The stone is domed and polished to a glassy black surface that reads almost like a dark mirror, and it sits within a twisted rope border. Surrounding that, a wide halo of scrolled silver wirework spirals outward, punctuated throughout with applied granulation beads in graduated sizes. The scrollwork continues down over the shoulders and onto the shank rather than stopping at the setting, so the ornament wraps the finger. Interior is marked 925 and SAMUEL B.

Samuel B is the collection of New York designer Samuel Behnam, whose work is built in Bali and Thailand using traditional techniques carried down through generations of artisans. The details are added a single granulation bead at a time, built up layer over layer of silver with hand tools,  and stones are typically bezel set rather than claw set, which holds them far more securely.  That construction is exactly what's visible here — every scroll and bead is an applied element, not a cast texture, which is why the surface has genuine depth rather than a stamped uniformity.
